Meet two new monsters - even freakier incarnations of Shelley’s baleful Creature, in the middle chapter of Midnight Screening’s FrankenFest !!!
1957’s THE CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN focuses on Noah’s fave character Victor, with Peter Cushing portraying the most openly evil and shitty mad scientist yet. The Hammer horror is a great case of bringing Frankenstein to life with a pretty minimal, character-based approach. FRANKENHOOKER? Oh she’s the total opposite: the 1990 Frank Henenlotter comedy is fuelled by super-crack and our fave Creature yet, throwing everything at the wall in a genre parody that turns out to be oddly progressive
Both movies rip, proving how effective and freaking fun it can be to remix a literary masterpiece. But only one is tattooed on our actual human (living) flesh!
